WE ARE BACK FOR YEAR TWO!!!

Welcome to the Pearlgate Enduro Challenge, proudly presented by Endurance Running NL in support of the Pearlgate Track and Field Club as a fundraiser for athletes traveling to the Athletics Canada National Cross Country Championships in Quebec City this November.

This year we will be adding a 4 hour option to the race in addition to the 12 and 6 hour events. And fees have been adjusted to allow for rental of portapotties to make washroom breaks more convenient.

Details

The athlete with the highest number of completed laps in each contest will be the winner.

Event Rules

Crew/Support

• Aid stations will be set up off the track but adjacent to the running lane on the side of the far straightaway.

• Crew access is allowed but must not obstruct other runners.

• Runners must stay within the designated track area (no short-cutting across the infield).

• Personal support is allowed only in designated areas.

Race Conduct & Safety

• Runners must not interfere with others; unsportsmanlike behavior can result in disqualification.

• Runners who are running their event pace are entitled to be inner most lane. Faster runners will be expected to pass on the outside. If runners are talking walk breaks or wish to run side by side for conversation, please move to an outer lane.

• Medical personnel will be available throughout the event.

• Runners can take rests for as long as they wish, but cannot leave the Pearlgate Track and Field facility.

• Race officials may withdraw a runner for medical reasons. • Alcohol is prohibited during competition.

Direction Changes

• Direction changes are standard - IAU rules help balance biomechanical strain on joints, tendons, and muscles.

• The direction will change at least every 4 hours - stating with clockwise from the start (4 hour event will start counter-clockwise and change direction 1 hour into the event to maintain alignment with 12 hour runners).

• The change will be coordinated and clearly communicated to all runners and officials.

• Direction changes are allowed only at predefined times, and must be documented in the event's race plan.

Direction change guidance:

Pre-Warn Runners:

• Announce the change 5-10 minutes before it happens via PA system or horn/whistle.

• Repeat announcement, ask runners to complete their current lap.

Designated Change Point:

• At the start/finish/timing mat (front stretch of track)

• Officials pause lap counting momentarily. Organized Execution:

• At the change time, runners complete their current lap, then switch to the opposite direction.

• Volunteers and signage/horn help guide the change.

Resuming Lap Counting:

• Counting resumes once the runner crosses the mat in the new direction.
