16/10/2016 Oldham Half Marathon 2016

Sprint Triathlon 24th April 2016

Milltown’s most diverse challenge yet is back by popular demand for a second year on Sunday 24th April 2016.  
 
The event, hosted in the Saddleworth area will see participants carry out a 400m swim, a 20k bike ride and a 5k run.

 

Following an intense swim event hosted at Saddleworth Pool & Leisure Centre, entrants will be covering 20k of Saddleworth’s most challenging inclines on bike, traveling the scenic route from Uppermill to Diggle, Delph, Scouthead, Austerlands, Lees, Grotton, Lydgate and Grasscroft before returning to Uppermill.

 

Following this, the 5k run will challenge participants’ fitness as they head out down the Pennine Bridleway to Chew Valley Road in Greenfield then turning and taking on the steepest part of the course via Kinders, Haw Clough, and Knowl Top lanes under the iconic war memorial Obelisk at Pots n` Pans, tired athletes will then be returning to Saddleworth Sports Centre via Church Road and the Bridleway.

 

Not to be underestimated, you will earn your 2016 Milltown Tri shirt, this is a tough one!

 

Why not enter a relay team in the Sprint Tri, identify your swimmer, cyclist and runner from your group or workplace and compete for the team prize, a great way to team build together.

Milltown 7k – 15th May 2016

The Milltown 7k is the first in the 2016 Milltown Race Series and takes runners on a diverse course that includes countryside pathways, quiet lanes and busier roads touching on the Tameside area on Oldham’s border. A great first event for runners who have achieved their parkrun.

 

Starting at 11.00am on May 15th 2016, the 7k run kicks off at the Lion’s Den area in the Green Flag award winning Alexandra Park, allowing runners to glide through the parks stunning gardens before traveling down Deanshut Clough to the wonderful Park Bridge Heritage site, runners will travel through urban and country locations, with differing levels of hill profiles before returning to the Park via Lees New Road and Abbeyhills Road.

 

Cash prizes for 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male/Female and Medals for all.

                      £11 unattached

Oldham 10k – 19th June 2016

Second in the Milltown Race Series is the popular Oldham 10k with full road closures, now in its third year and back by very popular demand!

 

Venue and facilities – The new Oldham Leisure Centre.

 

Covering just over six undulating miles, the Oldham 10k takes place on 19th June at 09:30am.

 

The route, which is much flatter than the strenuous half marathon, starts from High Street area of the Town Centre of Oldham and takes participants on a journey that will see them cover ground through Oldham town centre, Shaw and Royton, before returning to the start point for a warm, and well deserved reception from friends, family and supporters at the event.

 

Its father’s day! What a present for dad! Or an opportunity to run with him!

 

Cash prizes 1st, 2nd & 3rd Male/Female, 1st Male/Female team, vets and medals for all.

 

Entry price: £15 if attached to a UKA affiliated club or OCL member
                      £17 unattached

Milltown to Moors Oldham Half Marathon - October 16th 2016

This race sold out in 2015 and entries continue to grow each year with a reputation of one the toughest half`s in the UK. Last is the Milltown Series and with over 1100ft of ascent the Oldham Half is a serious proposition and represents a great challenge for all levels of runners.

 

Venue and facilities – The new Oldham Leisure Centre.

 

Race starts at 09:30 in the High Street area of the Oldham Town Centre. Places are limited to 600, so sign up early to ensure you don’t miss out.

 

One of the most grueling of races, this half marathon covers a 13.1 mile run through Oldham and its many miles of countryside, pushing challengers to their limits whilst offering some of the best scenery the borough has to offer.

 

With a very atmospheric start that includes a lap of the Oldham town Centre runners will travel a hilly route that will take them to the lovely Saddleworth area of Oldham with spectacular views of the Saddleworth villages and the imposing moorland landscape of the Peak District National Park that lies beyond. Returning via Grasscroft, Lydgate, Lees and the Glodwick areas of Oldham this race guarantees fantastic local support from the diverse communities of Oldham.

 

Cash pizes 1st, 2nd 3rd Male/Female, 1st Male/Female team, and vets, T Shirt, medals and a cheer for all. Double cash prize for setting a new course record currently held by Andi Jones at 1:09:52.2 (2013).
