THE CIRCUIT AND RACE RULES

The races will follow the core UCI rules for criteriums. Please note the following:

  • In the event of a crash your race maybe neutralized
  • If the race is neutralised for any reason, Marshalls will hold up RED FLAGS / RED FLASHING SIRENS and will BLOW THEIR WHISTLES.
  • You may continue to ride in formation at a moderate speed (under 20km) unless otherwise halted by a Marshall.
  • Only when you see Marshalls with green flags can you start racing again.
  • The estimated number of laps for each race is published, however the final lap count will be based on average speed of the first lap and calculated out.
  • The last 3 Laps will be counted down 3, 2, 1 with the 1 sign accompanied by a Bell.
  • After your race Marshalls will display Red Flags (ie no racing in progress)

SPRINT LAPS (PRIMES)

For each race except the Juniors M/F (13-16), there will be one sprint lap or “Prime”. For the men’s open there will be two (2) Primes.

  • A Prime is a lap where there is an extra prize for the fastest sprinter
  • Prime Sprint Laps (picked at random) will be displayed with a “P” on a sign and Siren.

FREE LAP RULE

  • There will be a repair pit (opposite the start) to facilitate free laps. To be eligible for a free lap, riders must report to the race official in the pit. Riders re-enter the race in the position held at the time of the mishap (re-joining at the rear of the group).
  • Riders do not have to complete the entire lap on which the mishap occurred to report to the pit. They may cut the course however must keep everyone’s safety in mind.
  • Riders taking a free lap are ineligible for “primes” for one lap after re-entering the race.
  • A Marshall in the pit will inspect the mishap for legitimacy and direct the re-entry of the riders.
  • You may leave your own wheels in the pit area. Please collect immediately after the race. Cycosports will not be responsible for any mishap / loss of wheels.
  • Free Laps are for mishaps derived from a crash (which you are involved in), broken components or a burst tire.

LAPPED RIDER – OUT OF THE RACE

  • The Marshalls may ask you to pull over and take you out of the race if you have been lapped or are about to be lapped, especially if there is a large peloton bearing down on you.
  • In some cases where the field is small, or strung out, you maybe allowed to stay in the race. In these cases please ensure you keep well to the left and do not interfere / “hang on” to riders who are a lap up. Be fair and let them ride their own race.
