We, Telford Harriers are delighted to welcome you as a competitor in the 2016 Ironbridge Half Marathon.
Whatever your goal, don't forget to take a little time to take in the beauty of the Ironbridge Gorge and enjoy yourself, after all that is what running is all about.
Event day programme
9am - 10am Enquiries desk open for ‘one the day entries’ and chip collection
10.20am Call out to runners – make your way to the start area
10.30am Half Marathon start
10.45am Fun Run Start

Enquiries Desk
A marquee will be situated in the arena do deal with any enquiries on the morning of the event.
Please collect your race number AND timing chip from here stating your name. We are using foot chips again this year and they need to be attached to your trainer. All chips will be collected by our ‘chip removers’ shortly after you cross the finish line.
Fun Run
On the day entries only, forms available at the enquiries desk. All ages welcome but runners under 12 must be accompanied by an Adult. Momento to all participants.
Parking
Car parking can be found at the Telford Town Centre. All parking is now ‘pay and display’ so please make sure you bring some change with you.
Travelling along the M54 motorway exit at Junction 5 following the signs for Telford Town Centre. The centre is surrounded by a one-way circulatory traffic system. At the Hollinsgate roundabout go right (third exit) and follow the system through a set of traffic lights until you see the multi-storey car park on your left just after going under a footbridge.
Travelling along the A442 exit at the Hollinswood interchange and following the signs for Telford Town Centre. At the Hollinsgate roundabout take the second exit and follow the system through a set of traffic lights until you see the multi-storey car park on your left just after going under a footbridge.
If you miss this car park, move into the middle lane and follow the road around to your right, there is an alternative car park some 200metres on the left, opposite entrance to the bus station. From here signs will direct you to the Town Park arena.
Please note there is parking at the International centre which is adjacent to the Arena and Ice rink.
Facilities
There will be portaloos close to the start/finish area but unfortunately there is no shower or formal changing facilities. We provide a tent/flatbed lorry in the arena area for bags and clothing but these are left at your own risk.
We have a visitor centre located close by which have public toilets, baby change facilities and vending facilities for light refreshments. They will be open from 10am - 4pm.
If you feel in anyway unwell prior to this event it is advisable you seek advice from your doctor before taking part. If you become unwell during the race then there is full medical backup en route.
The Route
The Route will be marked in miles and the course is a down and up multi-surface one lap loop. Start at the arena in Telford Town Park, running through the Town Park and down the Silkin Way, run past Blists Hill Museum and Coalport China Museum into the Severn Gorge. You follow the old Severn Valley railway line past Maws craft centre and the Tile Works/Museum. Once you have crossed the worlds first Iron Bridge you run over the Ironbridge itself, through Coalbrookdale and Rough Park back up onto the Silkin Way to the arena.

Mile 1 – Leave arena and head towards rugby club, a small loop in the town park
Mile 2 – Onto the Silkin Way
Mile 3 – Continuing along the Silkin Way joining onto Legges Way
Mile 4 – Past the Blists Hill Museum continuing on the Silkin Way
Mile 5 – Coalport China Museum and crossing Coalport Bridge
Mile 6 – Across other side of the River Severn on Salthouse Road
Mile 7 – Passing Jackfield Tile Museum
Mile 8 – Across the famous Ironbridge and passing the Ironbridge Gorge Museum
Mile 9 – Through Station Road, Coach Road and Darby Road
Mile 10 – Through Rough Park and past the Balancing Lakes
Mile 11 – Heading towards the Silkin Way
Mile 12 – Along the Silkin Way
Mile 13 – Back into the Arena
Please follow the race Marshalls, signs & any Police instructions. Failure to do so may result in this event not being held next year.
Once again there is a cut off time of 2¾ hours, at 1:15pm all marshals and timekeepers will be withdrawn.
Water Stations
There will be 4 water stations and these are situated:
Water station 1 – 3 miles – on the Silkin Way near the Queensway junction
Water station 2 – 6 miles – Coalport Road just over the bridge
Water station 3 – 9 miles – School Road before heading to Rough Park
Water station 4 – 11 miles – on the Silkin Way near the Queensway junction
The Finish
When you have crossed the finish line please keep moving towards the finish funnel where ‘chip removers’ will be seated to remove your chip from you.
Water will be available to all runners on completion of the race.
Results
Full results will be available through Run Britain and the Telford Harriers website where we will also confirm all prize winners.
We will be issuing prizes for the first 3 Male and Female finishers on race day at 12.30pm. All other prizes will be sent by post once the results have been finalised.
