Hey Y'all, The Gran Fondo San Antone is back! Ready to kick off Fiesta with a scenic New Route that romps through the beautiful rolling hills and dales along the SA River southeast of town. Starting from the Helton Nature Park we have 3 different routes on offer, approximately 30, 50, and the 80+ mile FIESTA GRANDE. The roads are NOT closed, so riders must obey all regular rules of the road. Helmets are required at all times on your bike. We will have some lead and follow vehicles for the front pelotons. The courses will be minimally marked, at key intersections that separate the 3 routes, and for local vehicles to be made aware of the event. It is the riders' responsibility to Upload the Strava route of your choice to your onboard GPS system/Phone, Garmin, Wahoo, etc., for navigation, (Or ride w a buddy who has the route') . Bring your cell phone for any emergencies, and to contact your family/team or us at the park if needed. Official Route links are posted below. Tire choice recommendation is 700x32mm- tubeless. There are a few roads that are narrow- bumpy- classic country roads. Tighten up your bottle cages ') . If you are on an old school rim brake bike, don't worry you'll be fine, just use the biggest tire that will fit , probably a 28 or 30mm ( riders have used 25mm w tubes and had no problems). The 80 mile Fiesta Grande has 3 turns w briefly unpaved intersections (20-30ft). These will be swept/blown off, marked w cones, and arrows indicating the turns, and best path to take. There will be 1 Feed zone/rest stop area available if needed, for all 3 routes located on Las Llomas road, about a ½ mile south of FM 2579. It is near the 20 mile point (1x) for the Pequeno route. The Medio and Fiesta Grande routes will pass it 2x each, at approx. the 30 and 45 mile points in the Camino Medio route, and at the 55 and 70 mile points for the Fiesta Grande route. . There will be food and drinks provided for the Pro After Party! (Helton Nature Park rules state that alcohol is permitted in a discreet manner (use cups, koozies, etc., as to Not overtly display consumption). Avoid a late fee and register before April 16th. Thanks, and Viva la Fondo!!
