Entry Fees
Entry Fees (Located on the Reg Tab)
Registering early saves you $20 on your entry fee and helps organizers plan food, support, and logistics more accurately. Late registrations increase costs and strain event resources.
Fee increases by $20 on the Monday before the event.
No Race License Required
The event is permitted by USA Cycling for insurance purposes, but it does NOT require a cycling license. Riders with suspensions or sanctions for performance‑enhancing drugs may not compete in any USA Cycling‑permitted event.
Rider Responsibilities
Riders are 100% responsible for knowing the course and downloading it to a bike computer or phone. Rain, wind, and regulations can remove or limit on‑course signage, including arrows and A‑frames.
View and download the course file types (GPX, TCX, etc.) from Strava.com before event day. Coming prepared greatly reduces the chance of going off course or getting lost.
If you are unable to return to the start, text (561) 374-2994 with your location from your phone and event staff will arrange a pickup.

Safety Protocol & Pickup Assistance
- Carry Your Cell Phone: Required for all participants. Coverage is available on most of the course.
- Emergency Situations: Call 911 for major medical emergencies. For non‑emergencies, call (561) 374-2994.
- Mechanical Issues: Bring appropriate tires, tubes, and CO2. Attempt repairs yourself or ask fellow riders for help.
- Send Your Location: If you cannot continue, text your pin location to (561) 374-2994 for pickup.
- Know the Course: Download maps and study the route before event day.
- Neutral Support Stations: All stops have first‑aid supplies and a mechanic for assistance.
City Bikes Nutrition Tent: Located about halfway each loop with water, snacks, and first aid. Riders are encouraged to stop and maintain nutrition.
Mountain Bike Requirements
- Frame: Durable mountain bike frame, sloped top tube preferred for control.
- Suspension: Front suspension (hardtail) required; full‑suspension allowed.
- Handlebars: Wider bars (approx. 700–800 mm), flat or riser.
- Brakes: Hydraulic disc brakes recommended for reliable stopping.
- Drivetrain: MTB‑specific drivetrain, commonly 1x with wide‑range cassette.
- Dropper Post: Allowed and useful on steeper or technical sections.
- Tires: Any width suitable for gravel conditions—narrow for speed or wide for stability.
Aero Bars & Tire Size
Gravel is flexible—ride what works for you. Aero bars are allowed, but please avoid using them when riding near or behind other riders. Tire size is open in all categories; choose what best fits your comfort and speed.
Neutral Support & Tire Pressure
Athletes are fully responsible for their own nutrition and mechanicals. The City Bikes neutral support tent will have limited mechanical supplies. Flat tires cause 99% of DNF (Did Not Finish).
Gravel bikes are not road bikes. Lower your normal tire pressure by about 3–5 PSI to handle chunky sections. Neutral support will stock water (no bottles), Coca‑Cola, snacks, and first‑aid supplies.
Event Number & Chip Position
Warning: Your event number has a timing chip on the back. Do not attach it to the seat post or any frame tube. You must place it on the front of your bike so officials can see your number and ensure accurate chip reads.
Staging, Food & Vendors
Use the park’s main parking lot when you arrive. The stage will be on the south side of the lot (look for the orange trailer). Post‑event food will be provided by PDQ of Pembroke Pines along with assorted refreshments.
Course Maps & Gates
Limited A‑frame signs will be placed on course, but they may be blown over or removed. Riders are strongly encouraged to download the Strava link from the registration page.
Some gates on Florida State land will be open for the event start/finish. Remaining gates will be closed and may require lifting or carrying your bike over or through.
Bottle Swap & Open Public Course
Personal bottles can be left in a large ice cooler or on a table at the bottle swap area each lap.
The levee trail system is open to other recreational riders. Stay to the right and pass on the left, just as you would on the road.
Smile for the Camera!
VeloPista Photo will capture images on course. Photos are typically available the next day via a provided link. Visit VeloPista Photo for access.
Tire Inflation & Littering
PLEASE DO NOT OVER‑INFLATE YOUR TIRES. The most common reason riders do not finish gravel events is flat tires, and proper pressure greatly reduces this risk.
Help protect the Everglades: pack out everything you bring in and do not litter on the course.
Open Public Course Safety
The course is open to the public, and you may encounter other riders and wildlife including horses, alligators, deer, bears, and snakes. It is your responsibility to ride safely and understand the inherent risks of gravel cycling.
Stay to the right side of the gravel road, similar to standard vehicle traffic.
