Run For Heroes 5K 2025 - A Bridges Event

Sign up now to join us on Sunday, November 2, 2025 at The Village Green in downtown Summit, NJ for a beautiful morning of exercise and fun for a great cause.  Your morning will consist of a 5k run or walk along our USATF-certified course through Summit, and a Fun Run for the kids around The Village Green.

All proceeds support Bridges' efforts to end veteran homelessness in Essex and Union county, as well as their Summit- and Newark-based Bridges' mission and programs, which seek to end homelessness through street outreach and intensive case management focusing on health, housing, and independence. Bridges is a proud partner of Bringing Veterans Home, which looks to end veteran homelessness in NJ by 2027.

WHEN:  Sunday, November 2nd 2025

TIME: 

• 8:00am - Check-in begins
• 8:50am - Warm-up
• 9:00am - 5K Run/Walk
• 9:30am - Kids Fun Run

ALL ABOUT IT:  Each 5k participant will receive an event t-shirt, race bib, and post-race refreshments.  Live DJ and volunteer opportunities will also be on-site throughout the morning. Top fundraisers and top racers in each category will receive awards after the race.  T-shirts will only be guaranteed for those who register by October 20, 2025. Kids Fun Run participants will receive a medal and prize (no t-shirt).

All 5K registrants will have the opportunity to list a veteran to honor during the registration process, that we will feature on an Honor Wall at the event. For any donors giving a donation of $100 or more, we will HONOR A VET with special recognition before and during the event.

Children of all ages are welcome to register for our Kids Fun Run around the Village Green. Event volunteers will lead the kids on the route around the green in this fun run that lets the kids decide how many laps they want to complete. Each child will be given a sticker for every lap they complete, and a special prize at the end of their run. Please note that event t-shirts are not included in Kids Fun Run registrations.

ENTRY FEES:

• 5K race for 18 years and older - $45
• 5K race for under 18 years old - $35 
• 5K race for Veteran Participants - $25
• Kids Fun Run - $10

PARKING:  Parking is available on the street and in nearby municipal lots.

WATER STATION:  There will be one water station on the course.  

STROLLERS:  Strollers are allowed on the race course, we just ask that you line up near the end for your safety and the safety of other participants.

POST RACE FOOD/DRINK:  After you cross the finish line, we will provide free water, fruit and packaged post-race snacks.
