Lions Germany and the German Lions Foundation (SDL)

The global motto of Lions International "we serve" ist translated by the German Lions as "we help".

We serve

• Humanitarian Efforts – Supporting aid projects at home and abroad,
• Youth – Lions programs for strengthening life skills,
• Disaster relief – Critical support for (climate) crisis regions,
• Reducing hunger – Supporting food banks in Germany,
• Vision – Saving eyesight – Lions initiatives against preventable blindness (Lions corneal banks in Germany and eye clinic construction in the Global South),
• Environment and climate – Avoiding, reducing and compensating CO2 emissions through project support,
• Childhood cancer – Organizing typing campaigns and bringing joy to affected children,
• Preventing diabetes – Through prevention measures like physical activity and healthy eating.

With Move for the Planet of the German Lions and Leos have created a movement that is fun, benefits the environment and promotes personal well-being. Everyone can join – young and old, in groups or individually, whether they are Lions members, Leos or non-members.

In 2025 the new components Move REGIO and Move PARTNER will complement Move CLASSIC.

Move CLASSIC – The action month in May

Every May, Lions and Leo Club members from all 19 districts of Lions Germany take action by registering and donating via the portal (see registration). They organize club hikes, zone walks, family outings and group participation in public events. Most clubs participate in small groups, though some, increasingly so, register all their members. Non-Lions are warmly welcome to join!

Move REGIO – Year-round and club-specific

Clubs can organize new or existing environmental activities under the Move logo at any time, tailored to their preferences and resources. These events can be conducted in cooperation with schools, companies, service clubs or sports organizations. Environmental movement events can also align well with other Lions priorities like seniors, youth or diabetes prevention.

Move PARTNER – Collaborations with external events

Lions environmental coordinators and the Move team aim to partner with large-scale events or regional organizers. Ther external partner runs their event independently but encourages participants to make an additional Move-related environmental contribution for one of the Lions Germany projects.
