Course: This year’s Rooney swim will take place along a one mile, 1,760-yard, 1.6 km triangular shaped course that will be mostly contained to the waters off the main public beach. Swimmers will start at the far perimeter of the course just south of Donovan’s rock jetty. ( you will need to walk to start, 5 min walk) Swimmers will proceed out northerly at a 50-degree angle aprox 400 meters to a buoy set at a total swim distance of .2 miles. Swimmers will continue on a northern angle to round the .4-mile buoy then swim back towards shore again at a northerly angle with a swim distance of .8 miles. The 1-mile swimmers will have to then swim south against the current for .18 miles to the inside buoy then another .02 miles to the beach to the actual finish line on the north side of the Sea Bright Jetty. The 2-mile swimmers will have to swim against the side shore current for about .4 miles on their first lap and .18 miles on their second lap. The 2- mile swim will start first. The 1-mile swim will start once 90% of the 2-mile swimmers have completed their first lap.

All swimmers will be required to go around the last buoy (marked as .98) on their right side before heading into shore.
