Bathurst Interclub 23/24 Briefing
Welcome to the Bathurst Wallabies Triathlon Club 23/24 Series and our Interclub Round.
We would like to thank our sponsor for this round, Bathurst Physiotherapy and sports injuries centre
On arrival, please rack your bike in the transition area on one of the positions marked, and with your bike facing the direction of the arrow. Bikes will face alternate directions to maximise social distancing.
Collect your timing chip from the clubhouse. Enter through the door in transition and exit via the door at the Stanley Street end of the clubhouse. Please adhere to social distancing marks on the floor and do not enter until there is room for you.
Wear your chip around your left ankle.
We will be starting the race in waves. There will be a men’s long course wave, a women’s long course wave and a short course wave.
The race is in Grand Prix format, commencing with a 2.5km run, followed by a 200m swim, then a 16km bike ride. The short course is completed after these three legs and long course participants will continue on with a further 200m swim and finish with a 2.5km run.
The race will start on the grass area adjacent to the river path. We will assemble there shortly before the start time of 9.30am.
The run will follow the path, cross the low level bridge then turn right after the bridge and follow the path to the turnaround point at the high bridge. Turn around and come back the way you came. Follow the cones into transition.
From the transition area, follow the Wallabies flags up to the pool. Enter the pool in the deep end, at the side of the pool furthest from the entry gate. The swim will be 200m and will follow an M shape around the buoys. When you have finished the swim, exit from the deep end and the side nearest the entry gates. Keep left as you exit the pool. You will cross the timing mat and head down to transition.
Your helmet must be on before you touch your bike and torso must be covered on the ride. Run your bike out of transition across the timing mat and past the mount line before getting on your bike.
Head along Stanley Street and turn right at the roundabout. There will be traffic control at the roundabout; please take care and follow their instructions. Once you are past the roundabout it is an open road so be aware of traffic and follow the road rules.
The ride is one lap of Eleven Mile Drive. The ride is signposted. Take the instructed turn immediately after each sign.
Strictly no drafting. Pass on the right and give your fellow rider a call that you are passing.
Once a rider has been passed they must drop back out of the draft zone.
When finishing the ride, dismount your bike before the mount line and run your bike back into transition.
If you are doing the short course, rack your bike, run round the bike racks and finish through the finish chute.
If you are doing the long course, head back up to the pool for another swim following the same course as previous.
Then head into transition and finish with another run again following the same course as previous. When finishing the run enter the car park from the opposite driveway to the one you exited from and run around all the bike racks and finish through the finish chute.
