VENUE

NOTE: 

  • PLEASE PARK YOUR VEHICLE IN THE DESIGNATED AREA AS SHOWN ON THE MAP. 

  • The Parking Area in front of the Swimming Pool building will be used as the Transition Zone.

 

 

SCHEDULE
  • 06:30 AM – Race Pack Collection, Transition Zone Opens

  • 06:45 AM – Swimming Pool is Open for Warm Up 

  • 07:30 AM – Race Pack Collection ENDS, Transition Zone Temporarily Closed 

  • 07:40 AM – Swim Warm-Up ENDS, all athletes are advised to attend the briefing

  • 07:45 AM – Mandatory Race Briefing

  • 08:00 AM – WAVE START (14-16 & 11-13) - First Competitor will start with the following athletes starting at 10-second intervals thereafter.

  • AG 7-10 WAVE START – Immediately start after the Last Cyclist from the older Age Groups enters the Transition Zone.

  • 09:30 AM – Expected time of Medal Ceremony

  • Note: Your Age on DECEMBER 31, 2023 will determine which Age Group you belong

    • AG 14-16 (Male)

    • AG 11-13 (Male)

    • AG 7-10 (Male)

    • AG 7-10 (Female)

 

 

RACE DISTANCE
  • AG 14-16 & 11-13

    • Swim: 200 m

    • Bike: 6.8 km (3.4 km X 2 Laps)

    • Run: 2 km (1 km X 2 Laps)

  • AG 7-10

    • Swim: 100 m

    • Bike: 3.4 km (1 Lap)

    • Run: 1 km (1 Lap)

START PROTOCOL
  • Athletes enter the pool area just before their start time, lining up based on race numbers.

  • The starter calls athletes one by one, starting them 10 seconds apart. 

  • Participants start every 10 seconds. Cross the timing mat then jump or dive into the pool.

  • Swimmers record their swim time by crossing another timing mat when exiting the pool.

 

 

RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

 

SWIM RULES (in addition to what is in the World Triathlon Competition Rules)
  • Swimming is at your own risk and responsibility. You must be able to cover the swim distance without any assistance.

  • Wetsuits are NOT allowed. 

  • Bouyancy devices, fins, and paddles are NOT allowed.

 

 

TRANSITION RULES (in addition to what is in the World Triathlon Competition Rules)
  • Transition Zone will open at 06:30 AM and close at 07:30 AM

  • Athletes are not allowed inside transition after 07:30 AM.

  • Before entering the transition, make sure you have your helmet on your head and your bike is ready so our officials can check it.

  • Bikes that have open/uncovered drop ends will not be allowed into transition.

  • TT Helmets are NOT allowed.

  • Cracked and/or loose helmet straps are NOT allowed.

  • Spectators/family/friends/etc. are NOT allowed in transition.

  • Bags are not allowed inside the transition.

  • Athletes are allowed to have a towel on the floor inside transition.

  • Only equipment used during the race is allowed inside the transition.

  • After finishing swimming & cycling, make sure you rack your bike and place your swim gear in your designated area.

  • You are only allowed to ride your bike AFTER the mount line.

  • You must get off your bike BEFORE the dismount line.

  • Riding your bike inside transition is NOT allowed.

 

 

BIKE RULES (in addition to what is in the World Triathlon Competition Rules)
  • This is a Draft Legal event, only Road Bikes OR MTBs are allowed.

  • Drafting is allowed.

  • Riding in an AERO position is NOT allowed and punishable by disqualification.

  • Athletes MUST have their BIB number on.

  • Bib number must be on the back while cycling.

  • The bike course has turns and corners. Athletes must take care of their safety and the safety of others.

  • NO HELMET = NO RIDE = IMMEDIATE DISQUALIFICATION.

  • No Outside Assistance is allowed in case of mechanical failure.

  • Athletes are responsible for the safety and functionality of their bikes and helmets.

 

 

RUN RULES (in addition to what is in the World Triathlon Competition Rules)
  • Athletes are NOT allowed to run with a bare torso. Athletes must always cover their upper body & thighs.

  • Littering is only allowed during the run leg in the designated littering zone.

  • Littering zone start and finish will be marked.

  • Bib number MUST be present in the front during the run leg.

  • Littering outside the littering zone is a rule violation. 

 

 

GENERAL RULES & INFORMATION
  • Athletes must return their timing chip. Failure to do so, the athlete must pay 500 QAR.

  • Timing chip must be placed on the left foot ankle.

  • Our officials are available to assist you. Kindly adhere to their instructions.

  • We strongly advise you to stay hydrated and use sunscreen.

  • Race course will be marked. However, it is the athletes' responsibility to follow the course and count their laps.

 

 

PENALTIES AND INFRINGEMENT RULES (in addition to what is in the World Triathlon Competition Rules)
  • Cycling without Helmet - Disqualification

  • Cycling while the helmet is unfastened - Disqualification

  • Riding in an Aero Position - Disqualification

  • (while in T1) Touching the bike while the helmet is not yet fastened - 10-second penalty

  • (while in T2) Touching your helmet when your bike is not yet racked - 10-second penalty

  • Cycling in the transition area (failure to dismount) - 1-minute penalty

  • Failure to obey the direction of the race official - Disqualification

  • Verbal/Physical abuse to race officials/volunteers - Disqualification
