By popular demand, we have moved back to a Mass Start for each event.
It is a .8 mile loop course, .4 each direction.. Swimmers can elect to do one loop .8, two loops for the 1.6 or 3 loops for the 2.4.\
Swim direction will be clockwise this year since the tide will be going out. High Tide 3:52AM,m Low tide 11:12AM. Start will be on the West Side (furthest from street) of the beach.
Start Times MASS START All Events. See start times below.
All 2.4 Swimmers: 7:25AM All 1.6 Swimmers: 7:30AM All .8 Swimmers: 7:35AM
Kids Swim 300 yards at 9:15 (12 years and younger)
Any swimmers still in the water at 9:30AM will be removed, NO EXCEPTIONS.
If you feel you need to stop early and let's say only do 2 loops instead of 3 loops or if you decide to go from 1 loop to 2 or three, you may do so , however, and this is VERY IMPORTANT, you will need to go to the timer (who will be located near the announcer) immediately after you finish. We want to make sure that all of your split times are read accurately.
NOTE: All swimmers must exit the water at the end of EACH LOOP (except Finish) and cross the center timing mats then go back in for additional loops. Swimmers that do not go across loop mat will automatically be entered in the .8 mile swim no matter what your time is.
We will be using a disposable Multisport timing chip. There will not need to be returned. With a different manufacturer, we had glue issues. Good idea to put a small strip of duct tape over the section where the glue is to make extra sure they do not detach. Duct tape will be available at packet pick up. Do not cover the entire chip, just the ends.
VERY IMPORTANT that all make sure their chips are NOT UNDER WETSUIT. Place the chips below or over your wetsuit for good reads. We need to make sure that all splits are captured. We calculate what distance you swam by the number of split reads we get (and the time between each loop). Please place on your ankle only, not on your wrist!
Contest can be changed on race morning if needed. Please try to notify the timer (behind announcer) prior to start if possible
Packet Pick up will ONLY be available Sunday starting at 6:45-7:30 ONLY.
There is a finish time LIMIT this year. Any swimmer still in the water at 9:30AM will be removed. We cannot let anyone swim after that time. No exceptions.
Buoys on your RIGHT at all times. After making the first turn around the dock,(dock on left) it will be a straight line of buoys, then when you see two DUCK BUOYS, that is your turn-a-round, but you must go around both ducks (about 25 yards apart). This will help separate so swimmers do not drift into oncoming swimmers. Please pay attention and try to hold your line. Lifeguards will be trying to keep people on the correct sides, but is it up to teach swimmer to try their best to stay on the correct side.
After rounding both DUCK BUOYS, swim back with buoys on your right, passed the dock then, for1.6 and 2.4 swimmers, when you have the beach in sight, swim directly towards the MIDDLE of the beach where you will see SSR flags and an exit the water chute to come out, go over the timing mat and start your second loop or 3rd loop.
All finishers only finish at the yellow arch.(East Side, closest to the street)
Results: We will email you your results as soon as you finish the swim. Grab your cell phone and get your times and check overall places etc.
PLEASE NOTE: We will NOT be having an award ceremony, or printing results at the event, Results are ALL ONLINE LIVE. Your award certificate is available to you at any time after you finish.
Swimmers will not be able to enter the water for additional laps later than 8:45AM.
Warm up time 7:10-7:20. As it gets closer to 7:20, please stay in the middle of the cove if warming up. Please DO NOT go near the bulkhead area closest to the street. There is debris in that area.
Note: Parking is limited in the area. See the map for street locations.
