The Hometown Heroes 5K Run & Walk was created to honor our local heroes and to support local First Responder and Veteran Charities. This year's event will be held on June 17, 2023 @ 9am in support our friends at Camp Freedom and the CASA of Luzerne County Shop with a Cop Program, so they can continue their mission of helping disabled Veterans, First Responders and their families.
Additional event shirts can be purchased during online registration for $15.
Home Town Heroes 5K Swag Store, shop.getsomespirit.com/HH5K23, will be available until one week after race 6/25/23 @ midnight. Various race apparel will be available such as hoodies, tees, long sleeves, moisture wicking items, hats, beanies, stickers & magnets to name a few. All items will be delivered approx 2 weeks later.
The Route
The perfect route for individual runners, walkers and families as the entire route traverses Kirby Park and a section of the Luzerne County Levee Trail, never to encounter traffic. After the turn-around point, participants will be routed along the lower section of Nesbitt Park through our "Hero Mile" as they return to Kirby Park for the finish. The Hero Mile will be lined with representatives and vehicles from our local military and first-responders - Police, Fire and EMS - creating a unique feature for both participants and spectators and an opportunity to connect with our region's everyday heroes.
