Race Route

The race is on an undulating course run on cycleways and pathways throughout with the exception of one small road crossing at Ditchmore Lane. Marshalls will be positioned throughout the course to guide runners. Please follow their instructions. The route will also be well signposted.

The race starts in Hampson Park and leads out on to Fairlands Way where it takes a single loop around the northern field of Fairlands Valley Park. It leads along Fairlands Way into King George V Park where there will be a water station. From the park, runners will be directed across Ditchmore Lane before joining Lytton Way cycleway. This leads beside the historic bowling green and High Street before passing along the Avenue. The exit from the Avenue has a narrowed opening so take care as you pass through it. The route passes the Oval shopping centre before returning into Hampson Park through the east entrance.

Distance Markers and Race Signs

Each kilometre will be clearly marked throughout the course. Race signs will also be positioned at regular intervals throughout the course directing runners where appropriate. Runners should proceed straight ahead on the route unless told to turn by one of the race marshalls or one of the signs.

Water Stations

Drinks will be available in recyclable cups at approximately 5km in King George V Park and in  recyclable cups at the finish.  If the weather is hot there will be an additional water station at around 7km..

Time Limit

Spectators

We hope to welcome spectators around the course, but this will be down to Government guidelines on Covid-19.  If spectators are welcome around the course, then please ask your friends and family to come and cheer you on! Views of the race will be particularly good in the park areas – the northern corner of Fairlands Valley Park including the bridge crossing, King George V park near the play area and water station, along the Avenue, the High Street bowling green and Hampson Park where there are toilet facilities and refreshments available to purchase at the community centre coffee shop.
