09/04/2022 | National Sports Centre, Isle of Man The Great Manx Run

The Great Manx Run

Saturday 9th April 2022

Who Can Enter?

The 1-Mile Fun Run is open to anyone fit and able over 6 years of age.

The Marathon / Half Marathon or Marathon Team Relay is open to anyone fit and able over 18 years of age.

Route:

The 1-Mile Fun Run will be two laps of the NSC perimeter track which is totally flat.

The other distances will commence on the NSC perimeter track and then continue onto the Heritage Trail (Police and event marshals will be assisting the crossing).  The Half Marathon runners will head to Marown and back twice while the Marathon and Team Relay runners will complete that distance 4 times.   This course is very flat and will allow for lots of community support along the way for our runners.

Timings and Distances: The events will start at the following times on the NSC Perimeter Track:

08.00     The Marathon (26.2 miles)

08.30      The Team Relay (Total 26.2 miles)

                                Leg 1 – 7.6 miles

                                Legs 2-4 - 6.2 miles each leg

09.00     The Half marathon (13.1 miles)

10.00     The Fun Run (1 mile)

Maximum cut off Times: This event can only take place with the generosity of volunteers giving up their time. Therefore, all runners must be finished by 2pm which gives people a maximum time of 6 hours for the individual Marathon runners to complete the distance and 5 hours 30 for the Team Relay Runners to finish. If your estimated time is over 6 hours for the marathon, you should instead select a shorter distance to run.

Timing Chips: Manx Timing Solutions will be providing timing chips so that runners can see their finish time and finishing position.  As this is a community event and not a purely competitive event, there will not be prizes for the top finishers.  The Team Relay Runner teams will be categorised into Male, Female and Mixed Teams.

Suitable footwear: Training shoes are suitable for the Fun Run.  For the other race distances, sturdy training shoes are advised.  As the Heritage Trail is an unsealed surface, runners should be prepared for some uneven ground and mud.

Feed stations:For Marathon, Half-Marathon and Team Relay Runners, there will be a water station at least every 3.1 miles.  There will also be a feed station along the route.

Toilets: There will be two portaloos positioned on the Heritage Trail at each end of the run legs.  There are also public toilets with the NSC main building.

Supporters: Supporters are welcome to come and support the Fun Run on the NSC perimeter track.  The best supporter areas are outside The Manx Harriers Club or inside the course within the small car park.

Supporters for the Marathon, Half-Marathon and Team Relay Runners can join us near the end of the Heritage Trail (Quarterbridge end), at the junction with River Vale road (where the TT Access Road joins Trail), at Union Mills or at The Marown end of the trail.

Info about The Organisers: The Great Manx Run has been organised by The Children's Centre and Isle Listen. With the specific aim of bringing communities together, the organisers invited any Manx charity, club or association (sporting or not) to get involved.  All runners can select which local cause their registration fee goes to.

The event has been supported by Manx Gas and Energy FM.
