How do I join CCXL as an affiliated rider?

This year all affiliation is on an individual rider basis via the British Cycling website. See the affiliation page for full details on the Central CXL League page on the British Cycling website

There is no club affiliation – every rider must register individually to be included in the league. There is no paper or postal affiliation and you cannot affiliate on the day, registration is online and in advance only.

The benefits of being affiliated

  • Online race entry is cheaper for affiliated riders.
  • Affiliated riders will be gridded.
  • Only CCXL affiliated riders score league points
  • If for any reason race entries have to be limited, affiliated racers will have priority

League points

The points system for the league is based on category. For veterans who elect to race in the senior 1-hour race, you will all be scored as seniors and no category points will be awarded. To score category points, you need to race in that category.

THIS WILL BE UPDATED WHEN ALL RACES ARE FINALISED.

At the end of the season, if there is a tie in an award position, a countback system will determine the placing order – the most recent race in which the riders competed together will determine the order.

How does gridding work?

First up, don’t get all stressy pants about gridding. Don’t waste you energy worrying about where you start. Its a long race remember so if you’re as good as you think you are, the cream normally rises to the top.

Pre gridding will apply to all CCXL affiliated riders who have entered online. Non CCXL affiliated riders will not be gridded. If you feel you are amazing and think you should be on the front row, then I’m sure the BC Commissaires on site will know you and support you with any grovelling (demonstrable national ranking) you may raise and fit you in accordingly. Easiest thing is simply to affiliate to the league and support CCXL.

Online entry will close at 23:55 on Tuesday prior to race day for all CCXL events.

This means that if you are not a member of the CCXL or did not enter online and in advance, you will be positioned at the back of the pre gridded riders.
