RACE HQ / EVENT VENUE – Llanharan Welfare Hall CF72 9RA
The postcode will take you to Barrmore Veterinary Surgery where the entrance to the Welfare Grounds and Race HQ is situated.
Accommodation / Parking
We will not be officially taking over the venue until 1730hrs 15h October (Hall) however we are aware that we have people coming from trom all over the UK for this event so we will aloow people from 1400hrs
Please do not arrive before this time as we will be busy setting equipment up etc and you may be refused entry.
Upon arriving you will be directed to a pitch / parking area please listen to the marshal. Your pitch area may differ from other dog events you have been to in the past, space is tight and there are a few restrictions placed upon us that we have to adhere to.
Rugby Pitch / Marked pitches
This will be marked off and out of bounds to all dogs – RCT can impose an on the spot fine of £100 for dogs on marked sports pitches. Please keep off this area at all times
Dog Feaces
This is to be picked up immediately and bagged. There will be bins placed about the grounds – please use them and dispose of your dog bags here.
Refreshments / Food & Drink
Food will be available to purchase from the Welfare Hall who will be serving Breakfast rolls, Porridge etc along with Tea and Coffee in the Hall from 0600hrs Saturday 16th October. They put on a great spread and they are a charity, work tirelessly to get everyone fed and food is served at a reasonable price.
Registration
Registration will be open Saturday 16th October 0600-0830
On registration you will in order:
-Confirm your details for the event (It is your responsibility to note any changes – IMPORTANT!!)
-Your Dog Equipment will be checked (Harness, Line , Belt)
-Please bring this to registration with you – Note harnesses that restrict the chest movement of your dog will not be allowed. Race Director decision is final!!
-Collect Bib Number
-Collect Tracker – 22 Miles only (You will be shown how to fix secure it to your race pack by cable ties and its function)
There is a mandatory kit list for both routes – Note we will not budge from this list. It is there for your safety so please do not take it out on the events marshals / crew if you have the incorrect kit. – Spot checks at checkpoints will be done by marshals on various items of kit.

Route Briefings – Mandatory for all
PLEASE DO NOT BRING YOUR DOGS TO THE BRIEFINGS – you will have ample time to go back and collect them prior to starting the event.
0830hrs Saturday 16th October in the Main Hall for both routes
Start Location
There is no mass start for this event. Start will be located at the rear of the High Corner public House and sign posted.
Starts will be a lot different to what you may be used to.
You will have a half hour window to leave the start line. The Start line will be marked with Red Kite / Cani-Trail Flags.
The reason for this relaxed start is that some have expressed a desire to participate with friends, in twos or whatever. It is chip timed so we will know who is placed and what time you arrive etc
18.8 mile – 0900-0930hrs
10 Mile – 1000-1030hrs

This will also include checkpoint details, any safety issues on route that may arise or any route changes (none predicted at the time of writing).
Route(s)
You will be passing over private, common and public land. It goes without saying we care about the environment and in particular our local area. Please observe the following:
DOGS ON THE LEAD LINE AT ALL TIMES – NO EXCUSES!!
Close all gates behind you
Pick up any litter (dispose of at a checkpoint)
Pick up any dog feaces (dispose of at a checkpoint)
Observe any livestock – if you see sheep running ahead or passing – stop and let them pass.
You will pass on both distances through a farmyard with ducks, chickens and horses in fields either side of the trail. Please if need be rein your dog in on a shorter line if possible.
You may see riders on horseback hacking on bridleways. Stop and ask them how they would like to pass or take any instructions from them.
Checkpoints
It is mandatory that you report to each checkpoint and give in your bib number. There will be water only at the check points due to reduce the spread of Covid 19.
Trackers
GPS Trackers for the 18.8 mile route on this event. These will be fixed to your race pack by cable ties and you will be shown how to do this along with its function. Once you arrive back at the finish line you will be immediately get this taken off you. Please do not mess with them once they are on as if lost they are expensive at a cost of £150 each.
A Link will be posted prior to the event for friends and family to view you etc
Finish Location
The finish location will be outside the Welfare Hall and you will be guided into the finish pen by marshals and a sprint finish (if you are that way inclined) through the Archway and collect your medal and tracker removed
Covid 19
Cases are on the rise in South Wales. As we are guests in the Hall please adhere to any Covid procedures in and around the hall.
Masks are available if required and gel at entrances to the Hall

General
This will be a lot different and more low key since our last event due to Covid 19, however we will endeavour to make a great atmosphere as always and to make it an enjoyable experience.
