2021 MMDH Fast Friday Series

Event Info / Rules & Regulations

Downhill mountain biking is gravity assisted racing, competitors will race between the tapes down a purpose built course navigating turns, jumps, and technical features such as roots and rocks, previous experience of riding enduro / downhill type trails is advisable.

The MMDH Fast Fridays is a 3 round Friday evening race series taking place in plantations across the island on existing trails, the race tracks are shorter (approx. 1 minute) and the format will vary from the championship series.

EVENT REGISTRATION AND SIGN ON

All participants must enter online before the event registration close date, NO ENTRIES WILL BE TAKEN ON THE DAY of the event as all timing equipment needs to be setup prior to race day.

All riders U18 years MUST have a parent or responsible adult with them when registering on the day. The parent/responsible adult must remain on site for the duration of the event and must sign the declaration on the sign-on sheets in order for the U18 rider to collect their number board and race.

Before you start riding on the day of the event you must sign on, this shows us that you have arrived to race and ensures you are covered by our insurance. Entry fees are stated below.

Youth / Junior: Entry Fee £18                                        All other categories: Entry Fee £22

* All riders must complete at least two full practice runs during the practice session to be allowed to race. 

Individual race run start times for all riders will be posted at event sign on. Please check your start time and make sure you are at the top ready for your race run in good time. During race runs riders will set-off at 20 second intervals,

Tracks will only be taped Friday afternoon and the track will be closed until 6:10pm when official practice starts this will allow riders to walk the track safely prior to the start of practice.

Riders will be automatically entered into categories based on the information provided when using the online entry system, competitors do not change category during the year.

LIVE TIMING

Manx Timing Solutions ‘MTS’ will provide live timing for all events via timing chips fixed to the back of all competitor number boards. It is important that all competitors fit number boards to their bikes, ensure that these are not damaged during the event and are returned at the end of the day.

Live timing screen will be displayed at the finish area and live results can also be accessed via any internet enabled device remotely live during the event, a link for this will be provided prior to the event.

E-BIKES

To enter the race on an E-bike, motor assistance must be disabled / battery removed from the bicycle. E-bikes are not insured to compete at British Cycling race events and therefore would invalidate event insurance. Riders are also NOT permitted to ride down the course carrying a battery for shuttling runs.

RIDER SAFETY

Riders are responsible for ensuring their bicycle is fit for purpose with 2 working brakes & bar ends fitted. It is recommended that a full suspension ‘enduro’ or ‘downhill’ type mountain bike is used.

Helmet cams are only permitted to be used on bicycles during practice.

In accordance with British Cycling, see below table for requirements on helmets and body armour.

RIDER ETIQUETTE

With up to 100 riders at each race the course can become congested at times. To minimise delays and for your safety it is important that you.

·Comply with any instruction given to you by a race marshall

·Do not stop and block the course, if you need to stop for any reason move off the course and outside the tapes so as not to impede other riders.

·If you leave the course for whatever reason, always make sure it is safe to re-enter the course and you are not going to obstruct any oncoming riders.

·No uplift is provided, do not push back up the track, use the designated push up route.

·If caught by a faster rider please try and give way at the earliest opportunity.

FIRST AID

St Johns Ambulance will be kindly providing first aid cover for events, qualified first aiders and 4x4 vehicle will be on-site during event and competitors will be informed of event location first aid point.
