ABOUT THE RACE:
Bobbin Head provides a season of new challenges. The distance is either 6km or 12km and the course boasts a great challenge and some amazing downhill trails and scenic views.
The Start:
Runners start at the Bobbin Head Picnic Grounds in the Kuringai Chase National Park. (besides the information centre. Just follow the Bobbin Head Road down to the water. It is easy to find and you will see our tents and finish arch when you arrive…
The Course:
Runners leave the serenity of the picnic grounds and head up the Birrawanna Trail which starts as a flight of bush steps and then becomes a bush trail winding its way along the ridge. At the first major junction comes a left turn and runners head along a firetrail to the Kalkari Discovery Centre, diverting past the bottom of the Kalkari Carpark where the drinks and aid station will be located. Runners then follow the signs to the Birrawanna track, a flowing single trail back the the junction and a left turn leads runners along the fire trail downhill until they turn right and continue on the Birrawanna track for some serene bush trails which wind gracefully around the hillside and finish at the picnic grounds. 12km runners repeat the course after passing through another aid station in the start/finish area.
