Rotary Club of St. Andrew North

Rotary International is an international global service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian service and to advance goodwill and peace around the world. Since we were chartered into existence by Rotary International in 1987, the Rotary Club of St. Andrew North (RCSAN) has committed hands and hearts to advance various humanitarian causes in Jamaica in the interest of Rotary’s established goals and ultimately the greater good of our communities.

This Virtual event is in aid of RCSAN Charities with part proceeds to the Jamaica Kidney Kids Foundation (JKKF) to advance the efforts of  the Foundation in improving the care of Jamaican Children island-wide with kidney disease and education on prevention measures.

Rotary's commitment to Service above Self is channelled through its areas of focus:

The Six Areas of Focus

  • Peace and conflict prevention/resolution
  • Disease prevention and treatment
  • Water and sanitation
  • Maternal and child health
  • Basic education and literacy
  • Economic and community development

Do invite your friends and family in Jamaica and around the world to participate in our “get fit while saving lives” challenge.

What is a Virtual Race?

Most people want to be healthier. Running, walking and riding are some of the best exercises you can do to achieve this goal. The benefits are endless, but finding the motivation (and time) to devote to it may be easier said than done. That’s where virtual races come into play.

  • A virtual race is a run, walk and/or ride event of a predetermined distance that participants can complete on any date and time within a specified period. There isn’t the commitment of waking up early on a weekend, driving to a set location, and lining up with hundreds or thousands of other participants for races.
  • Virtual races aren’t intimidating; quite the opposite; they’re light-hearted, inclusive, and fun. Participants are given the flexibility to complete the distance at a time that fits their schedule. They can take part in the event anywhere they are in the world.
  • The walk, run, ride or wheelchair may be done on the road, trail, treadmill or bicycle trainer. All one has to do is to record the time taken and the distance completed.

For the Rotary Club of St. North Event, participants are given one month to complete their contest. The event offers 12 run, walk, ride and wheelchair contests of various distances and combinations, catering to the novice and the avid racer alike.
