The year 2020 has been a difficult year, with the pandemic and a global call-to-action for racial equality and justice. We at Aslan recognize and celebrate our long history of 45 years of service to African-American children. Our belief that Black lives matter has been Aslan’s mission for 45 years. We’ve helped over 4,000 children achieve their goals and dreams, by bringing together diverse leadership, staff, community members and volunteers to benefit our children. We invite everyone to join us and celebrate our mission!
Our race committee has been closely monitoring conditions at the NJ Shore and mandates regarding the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to State of NJ and local government mandates, we cannot plan an on-site race. It is our hope that by expanding the Beauty and the Beach Run to a virtual 5-Mile run or walk or a 5K run or walk, we will be able to recruit runners and walkers nationwide.
Join us. All proceeds benefit Aslan Youth Ministries and contributions are tax-deductible. Registration is open now!
About Aslan Youth
Aslan Youth Ministries is a nonprofit organization serving some of the most impoverished areas in Monmouth County, within Long Branch, Red Bank, Neptune and Asbury Park, New Jersey. Since 1975, Aslan has provided community development programs with a focus on the spiritual and educational development of each child that impact and empower at-risk youth. We work with grade school and high school students and their families to have the greatest results for each child. Uniquely, Aslan has developed a very successful and highly respected program in which tutoring/mentor volunteers work one-on-one with their students to provide important academic assistance. This program is designed to help increase a child’s academic performance while developing a nurturing bond with a caring adult. Aslan’s Right Choices program teaches children life skills and values that help them learn the importance of service and leadership. Riddled with the long-term effects of poverty and trauma, many inner city communities are filled with children making wrong choices. We help them make right choices.
In 1996, Aslan was invited, and accepted the challenge, of providing several life-saving services in Ouanaminthe, Haiti, located along the northeastern border of the Dominican Republic. Now, Aslan serves over 500 families annually providing, a medical clinic (with a doctor, nurses and a pharmacy), food/farming, nutrition, education and other self-sufficiency programs the families need. Aslan also built a clean water well which serves the surrounding village.
