07/03/2020 South Barrule Plantation Isle of Man Trail Run 2

Welcome to The Up & Running South Barrule Trail Race.

Saturday 7th March 2020 - 10am Start

Race & Route Description

This event incudes approximate 2k (Short Course), 5k (Medium Course) and 10k (Long Course) distances all starting and finishing at the South Barrule Plantation carpark. They utilise the South Barrule plantation tracks and the surface is often muddy, stoney, and rutted with large amounts of standing water in bad weather. This all adds up to an exciting environment to run in especillay if you are new to offroad running. There is no requirement for special equipment other than a decent pair of trail running shoes and no need for you to be able to navigate. The course will be sigposted and marshalled where required.

Race Kit, Rules and General Requirements

This is not a fell race, you do not have to abide by The Fell Running Association rule book regarding essential kit. However, trail running is not like road running and requires suitable clothing and footwear to match the conditions on the day. It is advised that you should use trail running shoes as a minimum requirement that provide suitable grip and durability for the terrain covered. You may use road running shoes at your own risk! You should carry an extra layer of clothing and a jacket to wear after the race has finished. The course will be marked by the Race Director and marshalled where necessary. No navigational skills are required for this type of event. Water will be provided at the end of the course in the plantation car park.

The minimum age to enter the 2k race is seven, the 5k race is twelve and the 10k is seventeen on the day of the race. This race follows UK Athletics Association guidlines and a Trail Running Association permit has been applied for who are governed by UKAA.

Entries close 8pm on the Thursday prior to the event.
