Alpen Adria Swim-Cup 2020
Limitless Freedom in the water and across geographical boundaries - that characterizes the Alpen Adria Swim Cup, which had it’s premiere in 2019 and has been successful ever since. The cup connects three countries: Austria, Slovenia and Croatia and offers an attractive combination of events for the booming sport of open water swimming.
The Alpen Adria Region offers the most beautiful and best possibilities for swimming, Crystal clear, azure blue waters, surrounded by a breathtaking natural setting – that is why obviously the Region is predestined with the Alpen-Adria-Swim Cup to create a new Highlight in sports.
„We want to revive and establish the sport of swimming in a traditional, familiar and long term sustainable manner, to bring it back into focus. Open-Water swimming excites and creates with its distinctiveness an exceptional power and allurement. 7 competitions in 3 countries
After three successful opening competitions in 2019, the Alps-Adriatic Swim Cup 2020 will go into full operation.
A total of 7 stations will be held in 3 countries. Due to the COVID 19 situation, some dates had to be postponed to a later date.
It starts on July 11th with the opening competition at Ossiacher See (AUT) on July 25th, the Alpen-Adria-Swim-Cup will take place at Lake Millstatt in Carinthia.
All other stops: Klopeiner See (8.8.2020), Weissensee (22.8.2020), Wörthersee with the Wörthersee crossing (12.9.2020), Portoroz / SLO (19.9.2020) and last but not least the big season final in Novigrad / CRO on October 3, 2020.
Each individual cup station has different route lengths, profiles and special features, each location is a natural beauty with a special flair.
We want to guarantee all of our participants unforgettable impressions, varied sporting challenges and an all-round program at the highest level. That is our claim!

Events 2020
Ossiachersee (Lake Ossiach) in Carinthia - 11th July 2020
Ossiachersee offers as the first Cup Station 2020 the absolute best conditions.
Ossiacher See (Lake Ossiach) is in a picturesque location between the Gerlitzen Mountain and the Ossiacher Tauern mountain range. It is the third largest lake in Carinthia with water temperatures of up to 28 °C in the summer and was a venue in 2019 for the Alpen Adria Swim Cup, which will take place again this year on the west cove of the lake.
The start and finish line are located at the camping and public beach of Lake Ossiach in Annenheim. For the first time this year there will be a 10 km lake crossing with the finish line at the Domenig Steinhaus.

Millstättersee (Lake Millstatt) in Carinthia - 25th July 2020
Lake Millstatt, the second largest lake in Austria’s southern most state,Carinthia, with the most depth and volume of warm, crystal clear water, was the official birthplace last year of the Alpen-Adria-Swim-Cup. The successful premiere on one of the most beautiful lakes in Carinthia will be a recurring event in the future of the Alpen-Adria-Swim-Cup. The 2 km elongated basin located at the foot of the Nockberge mountain range is also the location for the Cup Station of the 2nd Alpen-Adria-Swim-Cup on July 25th, 2020.
The Start takes place at the shore of the Sittlinger beach in Dobriach and the 10km distance start is in Seeboden.

Klopeinersee (Lake Klopein) in Carinthia - 8th August 2020
Located southwest of the town of Völkermarkt in the municipality of St. Kanzian, Lake Klopein is known for its still waters and warm temperatures and is therefore popular for sport swimmers. The warmest swimming lake in Europe features 1,8 km width and 800 m breadth and a total area of 1,1 km². Lake Klopein which will transform to a giant swimming pool during the Alpen-Adria-Swim-Cup, will be entirely encircled on the 6.600m and 3.300m distances.

Weissensee in Carinthia - 22th August 2020
The cleanest lake in Carinthia is a special insider tip among nature lovers. Distinguished with the ‘European Prize for Tourism and Environment’ , the Weissensee is a true jewel in the austrian mountains, characterized by its drinking water quality and unique scenery. The 11,6 km long Weissensee lies at the foot of the Gailtaler Alps in the middle of a 76km² large landscape and natural reserve. It is also the highest situated carinthian swimming lake.The start and the finish of the Alpen-Adria-Swim-Cup take place at Beach Knaller, and the Start for the lengthwise crossing is the Beach Stockenboi.

Wörthersee (Lake Wörth) in Carinthia - 12 September 2020
Five Courses— one Finish Line
The start takes place from different locations (Klagenfurt, Pörtschach , Bad Saag, Kraftwerk Forstsee and Velden) around the lake. All participants have the same destination at the finish line in Velden. Additionally there will be relay races.
The absolute supreme discipline will be the Lake Wörth lengthwise crossing of 17,5 kilometers. The 10 kilometer distance starts at the Promenade Pörtschach , the 5 kilometer starts from Bad Saag and the starting point for the 3 kilometer distance is Kraftwerk Forstsee. The everyone swim of 500 meters and the children’s race start from Kurpark Velden and take place alongside the shore of the Promenade Velden.
The absolute safety of each participant is our main emphasis. All participants swimming from Klagenfurt to Velden will be guaranteed with a 1:1 escort for the entire swim. The other swim courses will of course also be additionally secured.
There is also the possibility to accomplish the 17,5 km and 10 km as a relay race.
In the relay races the corresponding starts are also the transfer points.

Portorož, Slovenia - 19 September 2020
The resort town on the Italian Adriatic coast has everything one could wish for. Glamourous promenades, romantic alleyways, rich cultural heritage, rustic traditions, but also an urban touch meld together in Portorož, the ‘Port of Roses’ as named by the Italians. Luscious green Hills surround the picturesque and broadly stretched central sand beach of Portorož and only 3 kilometers away lays the neighbouring car free village called Piran. The Adriatic ocean allures with its comfortably warm water and light ocean breeze. Perfect conditions for the Alpen Adria Swim Cup, which will have a station in Portorož-Piran for the first time in 2020.

Novigrad, Croatia - October 3, 2020
The ultimate swim highlight in Novigrad-Cittanova.
A special premiere will take place in the cove of Novigrad on October 3, 2020: the Alpen Adria Swim Cup, an Open Water Cup, which was launched in 2019, will also have its first guest performance on the istrian coastal city and will be established as the new hot spot in the open water swimming scene.
All competitions take place directly in the cove of Novigrad, the start and finish area at the Hotel Aminess Maestra l - Sirene beach.
Novigrad offers as a first Cup Station in Croatia the absolutely best conditions for this purpose.
The participants can decide between six different distances: the 10.000m and 5000m distance leads to a circuit along the entire lagoon into the old city of Novigrad. The turning point is at Waikiki Beach. The return is along the same course, a triangle course will be completed for the 3.400 m and 1.700 m distances.
Swimmers with less ambition can also get their money’s worth by swimming the 500 m course ‘Everyone-Swim’ as well as the talented young swimmers in the 300 m long Kids- Race. A swim event for old and young, likewise profis and amateurs.
