27/10/2019 | Manchester, United Kingdom Manchester Beer 10k 2019
Race numbers and chips to be picked up at Registration.

INFORMATION

A 10km race starting and ending at Manchester’s Beer Nouveau brewery with a beer waiting for you when you cross the finish line! The course takes you through city streets, along two canals, and across parkland with a short length of off-road running.

Information:

Registration

Please arrive in plenty of time to register for the race. Registration opens at 09:00AM and the first wave of participants set off at around 11:15. You will be given a returnable chip on a strap to be worn on the ankle. Please ensure that you return the chip as a charge of £10 is payable otherwise.

The Route

Leaving Beer Nouveau from the Temperance Street end, runners will set off towards Chancellor Lane where they will turn left, heading towards Great Ancoats Street for the first stint of running on city streets. They will then turn right onto the Ashton Canal towpath and a run out to and through Philips Park. A section of dirt track loops back to Riverpark Road and through Philips Park Cemetery. The route then follows the ring road for a short while as far as the Rochdale Canal where runners will rejoin the towpath network back to the city centre and Great Ancoats Street. Another left turn takes them back to Chancellor Lane and North Western Street for a final straight to Beer Nouveau and the finish line, in sight of the bar and the waiting beer.

This route covers tarmac (with and without potholes), cobbles, (at times narrow) canal towpaths with low bridges, (sometimes muddy) dirt tracks, road crossings and traffic lights. Runners are advised to wear appropriate shoes for the mixture of terrain.

Runners will also encounter pedestrians, cyclists, other runners and traffic. Thankfully however, the geese won’t be nesting at this time of year and we’re hoping this year it won’t include a fallen tree obstructing the path.

Teams & Prizes

There will be prizes of mixed beer boxes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd fastest males and females, as well as for fastest teams.

Teams can consist of 4 to 6 members, with the fastest 4 times taken into account.

Due to the nature of the course being on open public roads, runners will be set off in groups or teams of up to 6 at a time, 30 seconds apart.

All runners will receive a beer (or two) when they get back to the brewery, along with their medal.

The Venue

Beer Nouveau is just 10 minutes’ walk from Piccadilly Station, but there is also a reasonable amount of on-street parking outside. Please do not drive if you are intending to drink.

The Brewery Tap will be opening especially for the event, with the bar open until 8pm for post-run drinks, chat, bragging, teasing and general socialising!
