2026 Junior Lifeguard Competition

OPEN FOR JUNIOR GUARDS AGED 9-15!

Ocean lifeguards will be challenged to approach diverse situations. A well rounded “waterman” is desired; flexibility and teamwork are essential. 

Date: Tuesday, July 7, 2026                                 

Location: Salem Avenue, Pennsylvania, and Union Avenues beach access: South End Pavillion

Day of Registration - $35, Credit Card: 8am @ South End Pavillion Boardwalk

Late Registration T-Shirt & Lunch Ticket Pickup: 8am @ South End Pavillion Boardwalk

Tournament Start Time: 9:00am

Lunch: Pizza will be served to all junior guards. There is also a snack stand located on the boardwalk at the tournament event location to purchase food/snacks.

COST: 

• Early Bird Registration: closes July 3, 2026 at midnight $30
• Late Registration: starting July 3, 2026 through day of tournament;  $35 (credit card)

• Disclaimer: Please note, if you have registered AFTER the deadline (7/1) for early bird registration, you are NOT guaranteed a shirt and will not receive the $5 discount. We HIGHLY recommend that you opt to register with the "early bird price" @ $30 to secure your spot and t-shirt. You will also be able to complete "late registration @ $35" the day of the tournament, but you may not receive a shirt. 

• NO CASH WILL BE ACCEPTED! CREDIT CARD PAYMENTS ONLY. 

• There are NO refunds.

Beach and Water Courses: 

   Age Group A – All water events to be held on Pennsylvania and Union Avenue beaches.

· Age Group B and C – All water events to be held on Salem Avenue beach.

Competition Schedule: Updated 7/6/2026 due to weather and ocean conditions

• Events will not be assigned specific start times. All junior lifeguards, parents and instructors must listen carefully for announcements concerning start times for each event.

• Substitute events may be inserted depending on ocean and or weather conditions.

AGE/ GROUP DIVISIONS

Competition classifications: (Changed from “as of July 1 of the current year)

"U19" Division – 15, 16, 17, or 18 years of age by December 31 of the year in which they are participating in the National Junior Lifeguard Championships.

"A" Division - 14 and 15 years of age on the day of the competition

"B" Division - 12 and 13 years of age on the day of the competition

"C" Division - 9 to 11 years of age on the day of the competition

In the event a competitor chooses to compete in the next age group division above their specified division, the competitor must remain  in that division for the duration of the competition. Any “A”

Competitor may participate in the U-19 Division if they will turn 15 by December 31 of the calendar year
