Welcome to the 2026 Sue Bell Memorial Riverway Triathlon

Presented by the Townsville Triathlon Club, this community-focused event honours the late Sue Bell — a beloved supporter whose generosity, encouragement, and warmth continue to inspire our club. We welcome athletes of all abilities to the beautiful Riverway Precinct for a safe, fun, and great day of triathlon.

Course Highlights

  • Swim: if you are competing in the Kids or Short course you can enjoy a refreshing dip in the Riverway Lagoon swimming pool. The Long Course competitors will be able enjoy the scenery during a 1km open water river swim in the Ross River (supervised by Arcadian SLSC).
  • Bike: a safe and fast bike course on completely closed roads to Traffic. The bike leg follows Riverway Drive,
  • Run: Enjoy the spectaculr run along the river.

Event Distances

  • Short Course: 350m lagoon swim (5 laps), 10km bike (1 lap), 4km run (1 lap)
  • Long Course: 1km river swim, 30km bike (3 laps), 8km run (2 laps)
  • Big Kids (11-13): 210m swim, 6km bike, 1.6km run
  • Little Kids (7-10): 70m swim, 3km bike, 1km run

Key Timings (Sunday 9 August 2026)

  • Registration & Transition opens: 5:30 am
  • Long Course start: 6:40 am
  • Short Course start: 7:30 am
  • Little Kids: 8:00 am | Big Kids: 8:15 am

Important Information All competitors must wear swim caps, helmets, and follow AusTriathlon rules (no drafting, roadworthy bikes, etc.). Please read the full Race Brief carefully. Transition is compact — keep it tidy and bring only essentials. One-day licences are available for non-members.
