About RUN SILCHESTER

Run Silchester is an annual running event in the beautiful village of Silchester. It is organised by the Run Silchester committee on behalf of the Silchester Sports Pavilion Charity. .

It starts on the Silchester playing field in the heart of the village and takes you along the English Heritage ancient Roman Wall that once enclosed the roman town of Calleva Atrebatum, past the 12^th century St Mary-the-Virgin church, and through inspiring trails in ancient natural woodland before finishing at the Silchester Sports Pavilion. The run offers some of the most picturesque and varied terrain of all the organised events in Hampshire and Berkshire.

Run Silchester offers three running challenges for all ages and abilities

• Silchester Fun Run - 2.5 Mile Run to encourage children, families and casual runners (of all ages) to participate in a fun community challenge.
• Silchester 5 – 5 Mile Trail Run offering a multi-terrain course for the more adventurous runner.
• Silchester 7 – 7 Mile Trail Run offering a more technical trail run course with even more elevation for those runners seeking something different.

To create a festival environment there will be additional activities including food stalls, bar, a children’s fun zone, music and the ever-popular Silchester Village Market with a variety of stalls on the playing fields.

Managed car parking will be in operation.

Run Silchester supports the Tadley Community Food Pantry and encourages runners, supporters and volunteers to bring along food and toiletries to the collection point at Sports Pavilion.

Entries are available online up until 6pm on Friday 2^nd May, and in person on the day. We encourage early booking to avoid disappointmen

Registration will be open from 9:00am on the day.

New medal designs for all races, water and banana for all finishers. Plus, a trophy for the following categories;

• 12 and under Boys: 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place
• 12 and under Girls: 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place

Silchester 5 Race

• Male Veteran: 1^st place (50 and over)
• Female Veteran: 1^st place (50 and over)
• 17 and over Male: 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place
• 17 and over Female: 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place
• 16 and under Boys: 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place
• 16 and under Girls: 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place
• Fastest Villager

Silchester 7 Race (17yrs old and over)

• Male Veteran: 1^st place (50 and over)
• Female Veteran: 1^st place (50 and over)
• 17 and over Male: 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place
• 17 and over Female: 1^st, 2^nd and 3^rd place

The chip timing will provide you with a timely update on your running time at the end of race, with all results available online shortly after the event.

Event Cancellation

If the event is cancelled for any reason, every attempt shall be made to re-organise the event later in the year. Unfortunate refunds will not be offered.

Changing between Distances

We will try and accommodate any changes between races as long as the race has not reached capacity.

Water Stations

There is a water station at 1.8miles for all the events and 4.8miles for the Silchester 7.

Water will also be available at the finishing line.

Race Photography

There will be photographers on duty at this public event. Photographs will appear on our facebook

page and website. If any photograph is published of you, and you wish it to be removed, please

contact us and it shall be removed.

Objectives

Run Silchester is an annual running event organised by the Silchester Sports Pavilion Charity.

A primary objective of the Silchester Sports Pavilion Charity is to promote participation in healthy recreation for the benefit of the residents of Silchester and the wider community.

In accordance with this objective Run Silchester:

• Provides running events to include all ages and abilities
• Encourages healthy participation in sporting activity
• Encourages volunteer involvement in organising and supporting a community event
• Raises funds for:
  • The development of existing and new sporting activities in the community
  • Support of local clubs and associations whose aims and objectives are to improve the conditions of life for the residents
  • The maintenance of the Sports Pavilion and playing fields
