Ampthill vs Cancer 5K

Come together. Make an impact. Cancer doesn't discriminate. One in two people will face this challenge in their lifetime, which means it's likely to be affecting someone you know right now. 

 

The Ampthill vs Cancer 5K invites everyone to join a powerful community response on 29th June, whether you are from Ampthill or not, you can make a difference. Every step matters, with all proceeds going to local cancer charities to raise awareness, support families and fund vital research. 

 

Located in the beautiful Ampthill Park, this event welcomes runners, walkers and supporters of all abilities. No matter your fitness level or connection to cancer, you can stand united against this disease. There will also be a run for the kids (Golden Hare Mile) and a chance for you to enjoy a picnic in the park with live music. 

 

Outline timings for the day are as follows:

  • 09.00 - registration and 'warm up' event 
  • 10.00 - Ampthill vs Cancer 5K (aged 13 upwards)
  • 11.30 - Golden Hare Mile (aged 12 and below)
  • From 12.00 - the 'cooldown' - presentations, picnic in the park, live music and more! 
  • 17.00 - close (time to cross the finishing line!) 

 

Entry fees:

  • Ampthill vs Cancer 5K - £12.50
  • Golden Hare Mile - £5.50

A £2 discount will be offered for any runner affilated to a running club. You can waive this discount if you are able to, which will increase the proceeds to charity.  

 

The following elements are included:

  • Race bib (with integrated timing chip)
  • Electronic timing and online live results 
  • Age group trophies
  • Medals or t-shirts for all 
  • Course safety - signposts and enthusiastic marshals
  • Medical provision at start, finish and on course
  • Parking available - locations TBC (if you live locally you are strongly advised to walk to the event)

 

Please note:

  • the course is solely within Ampthill Park and although it mainly follows footpaths, there could be some trip hazards (i.e. tree roots) in places
  • no dogs are allowed to take part (apart from registered guide or hearing dogs)
  • the Golden Hare Mile (for the kids) will be in an open area of the park and supervised with lots of marshals. One adult can run with each child if you would prefer (just register the child please)
