We will have COVID mitigation procedures in place by May 1st, based on updated information from the State and other organizations, which may results in race modifications, and/or cancellation.

Race date: June 5th, 2021
Race time is 10:30AM FOR THE UP & DOWN RACE


Race start will be at the Government Peak Rec Community Center (GPRA Chalet)
Entry Fee: $30 before May 19th, $40 May 20th- May 31th, $50 day of race

Family entry: $100 for a family (immediate family only, Must sign up before May 30th)

Training on the mountain: Of course, although the gate at the bottom of the hill closes at 10pm

Course Description:

Uphill Course:  Follow the "gov Peak Race trail" signs up the south side of the mountain, finishes at the top at the "repeater station" building

Uphill and Downhill Course: Travels up the south side of the mountain (just like the uphill only course),  Then proceeds down the East Ridge trail towards Blueberry Knoll trail and comes down the Blueberry Knoll Trail back to the start.

Please be aware that there is some trail construction going on and detour signs will be posted.

Directions to the race start:
From Anchorage:
North on the Glenn Hwy (continue onto the Parks Hwy)
Exit at Trunk Rd
North on Trunk Rd (go through a round-about, stoplight, round-about)
Turn left on Palmer Fish-hook Rd
North on Palmer Fish-hook Rd for 4.5miles
Turn left on Edgerton Parks Rd (mile 7.1 Palmer Fish-hook rd)
Travel 1 mile
Turn north on Mountain trails road, drive 1 mile

Parking: Parking at the Government Peak Chalet. This is a Mat-Su Boro Parking area and there is a $5 fee, State Park Passes DO NOT WORK here.

Gate hours: Please be aware that there is a gate to the access road, and it will be open from 8am-10pm.
