GETTING THERE & GETTING READY

Staging Area:

  • Car Parking is available at Biopolis Carpark (Car Park Entrance A). Parking at Basement 3.
  • The staging area has now moved to one north crescent (opposite Central Exchange Green). It can be accessed via North Buona Vista Drive / Bioplolis Drive. The area also gives a good vantage point for watching both races entering Central Exchange Green.
  • Sign-in and Kit collection is onsite. Please be ready for your race at least 30 minutes before the scheduled start
  • Please come warmed up as once inside the circuit you can’t use it unless racing.
  • When crossing intersections please obey the Police / Marshals at all times
  • You can drop your bag at the registration tent (all care no responsibility)
  • If there is heavy rain / lightning threats, you race maybe cancelled.
  • Please return your chip after your race - $100 replacement fee for lost chips will apply

MEDICS / HYDRATION

  • There are limited waters provided free of charge for cyclists. Please dispose of your rubbish

THE CIRCUIT AND RACE RULES

The races will follow the core UCI rules for criteriums. Please note the following:

  • YELLOW FLAGS are used to highlight an obstacle ahead or a crash. Please race as normal but be aware of the warning and exercise caution
  • RED FLAGS are used to neutralise a race (either to 20km per hour) or if instructed by the Marshal, riders should stop completely. Race can be neutralised for the following types of reasons:
    • Severe crash (early in the race) that impedes a majority of riders
    • Request by the Police / Lightning Warning where safety of the rider is compromised
  • Please obey the Police and Marshals at all times
  • As this is a new circuit all races will start with the first lap being neutralised
  • Each race will be approximately 40 minutes in length
  • The final lap count will be based on average speed of the first lap and calculated out.
  • The last 3 Laps will be counted down with the “1” sign accompanied by a Bell.
  • For this race there will be no sprint laps.

ROUTE A - Elite Categories

  • The circuit contains 2 cobbled areas, both of which are mainly uphil. If wet they maybe slippery so please be careful.
  • The circuit does have a couple of sharp corners but overall is fast and includes long downhill into a sweeping left, then a tighter right before the home straight.
  • Field size is limited to 45 riders per race

ROUTE B - Weekend Warriors*, Juniors and Women

  • Note - Due to changes in road clsoures (26 April) the circuit has had to change
  • The circuit is now 1km in length and includes a cobbled section.
  • Field size is limited to 20 per wave and 27 per race.

* Weekend Warriors category is aimed at those who have never won a race or finished in the top 10 recently. If there is a "sand bagger" please have a word with them to change categories.

RIDE SAFE & DON'T BE A CLOWN

In previous races, especially with Juniors and Weekend Warriors, we have seen the "odd clown" who thinks he (yes all males) is in the world sprint championships. Please hold your line on corners and don't cut the corner on the inside (physics say you will end up on the outside and take out other riders). Anyone caught weaving dangerously because they don't like someone on their wheel will be pulled from the race immediately.

NO FREE LAP RULE

  • As these are short Criteriums there is no free lap rule. If you suffer a mechanical or puncture there is not enough time to get back on before the race concludes.

LAPPED RIDER – OUT OF THE RACE

  • The Marshals may ask you to pull over and take you out of the race if you have been lapped or are about to be lapped, especially if there is a large peloton bearing down on you.
  • In some cases where the field is small, or strung out, you maybe allowed to stay in the race. In these cases please ensure you keep well to the left and do not interfere / “hang on” to riders who are a lap up. Be fair and let them ride their own race.
  • Once the finishers are through all riders regardless of whether a lap down, will be pulled off the course.

RACE OVER – HEAD FOR STAGING

  • After the chequered flag, continue to roll around the course until you reach the staging area where you can dismount and have your chip removed.
