IoM Open 100-Mile / 24 Hour Track Race Walk
Incorporating the Race Walking Association National Long-Distance Championship
Saturday/Sunday 18th-19th August 2018
Douglas National Sports Centre, Isle of Man
Start time - Midday
The original concept was to promote a one off, bonus, Invitation Race, over and above the conventional rotation of 100 miles Championship Races in Britain. This was with a view to attempting to better National, Area and and even Global Track Records. However, this aspect stalled after only six walkers had accepted entries, when the organisers agreed to make the remaining places "Open" to all, following the withdrawal by another club that had intended to promote a similar event. Subsequently, the 100 Miles Race was awarded the Race Walking Association's National Long Distance Championships.
The Track at the National Sports Centre, Douglas holds a Grade "A" Certificate, and amongst other prestigious event held there previously, were the Youth Commonwealth Games in September 2011.
All races will be conducted according to the Race Walking Association Category B permit, number RWA8001-1 which allows the judging rules to be relaxed with only the contact part of IAAF rule 230 being applied
