THE CIRCUIT AND RACE RULES

The races will follow the core UCI rules for criteriums. Please note the following:

  • YELLOW FLAGS are used to highlight an obstacle ahead or a crash. Please race as normal but be aware of the warning and exercise caution
  • RED FLAGS are used to neutralise a race (either to 20km per hour) or if instructed by the Marshal, riders should stop completely. Race can be neutralised for the following types of reasons:
    • Severe crash (early in the race) that impedes a majority of riders
    • Request by the Police / Lightning Warning where safety of the rider is compromised
  • Please Obey the Police and Marshals at all times
  • The estimated number of laps for each race is published, however the final lap count will be based on average speed of the first lap and calculated out.
  • The last 5 Laps will be counted down with the “1” sign accompanied by a Bell.
  • For this race there will be no sprint laps. We hope to introduce these into future races.

FREE LAP RULE

  • There will be a repair pit (50m past the start) to facilitate free laps. To be eligible for a free lap, riders must report to the race official in the pit. Riders re-enter the race in the position held at the time of the mishap.
  • Riders do not have to complete the entire lap on which the mishap occurred to report to the pit. They may cut the course however must keep everyone’s safety in mind.
  • Riders taking a free lap are ineligible for “primes” for one lap after re-entering the race.
  • A Marshal in the pit will inspect the mishap for legitimacy and direct the re-entry of the riders.
  • You may leave your own wheels in the pit area. Please collect immediately after the race. Cycosports will not be responsible for any mishap / loss of wheels.
  • Free Laps are for mishaps derived from a crash (you are involved in), broken components or a burst tire.

LAPPED RIDER – OUT OF THE RACE

  • The Marshals may ask you to pull over and take you out of the race if you have been lapped or are about to be lapped, especially if there is a large peloton bearing down on you.
  • In some cases where the field is small, or strung out, you maybe allowed to stay in the race. In these cases please ensure you keep well to the left and do not interfere / “hang on” to riders who are a lap up. Be fair and let them ride their own race.
