    • Duathlon (15 and Up): 

      • Run 1: 5.0 km (2 Laps x 2.5 km) 

      • Bike: 21.3 km (4 Laps x 5.3 km) 

      • Run 2: 2.5 km (1 Lap)

    • Youth Duathlon (11 to 14): 

      • Run 1: 2.5 km (1 Lap)

      • Bike: 10.6 km (2 Laps x 5.3 km)

      • Run 2: 2.5 km (1 Lap)

  • 9:00  PM - Race Pack Collection Opens

  • 10:00 PM - Duathlon Race Start (Mass Start)

  • 10:45 PM - Youth Duathlon Race Start (Mass Start)

  • 11:30 PM - Medal Ceremony & Dinner (only on March 29)

  • This race is open for MEN AND BOYS ONLY

  • Maximum Entries: 150 Participants

  • Your age on the 31st of December, 2024 will be the basis to which age group you will belong.

  • A minimum of 5 competing athletes per category is required to award a podium. 

  • Categories with lower participation numbers will be combined at the organizer's discretion.

DUATHLON RACE RULES

 

RULES & REGULATIONS
  • World Triathlon "Competition" Rules will be applied. Please check it here.

 

Transition Zone Rules
  • On race day, the transition zone will be open from 09:00 PM for athletes to prepare their area until 09:45 PM. It will close promptly. 

  • Athletes are not allowed inside transition after 9:45 PM.

  • Only racing competitors will be allowed through the transition area during the race. 

  • Spectators/family/friends/etc. are NOT allowed in the transition zone.

  • Bags are not allowed inside the transition.

  • A plastic bin with corresponding race numbers will be provided where you can place your running shoes & bike gears. 

  • There will be a designated area for Para-Duathlon Relay competitors to receive their timing chip from their teammate.

    • Para-Duathlon Relay athletes are NOT allowed to leave their designated zone to collect their timing chip.

    • Para-Duathlin Relay athletes who finished their designated leg are NOT allowed to stay in the timing chip handover area.

  • Before entering the transition, make sure you have your helmet on your head and your bike is ready so our officials can check it.

  • Bikes that have open/uncovered drop ends will not be allowed into the transition. 

  • Cracked or loose helmet straps are NOT allowed.

  • Riding your bike inside transition is NOT allowed (this will result in DSQ)

  • You are only allowed to ride your bike AFTER the mount line.

  • You must get off your bike BEFORE the dismount line.

  • After finishing the cycling leg, make sure you race your bike and place your swim gear in your designated area.

  • Please be considerate of other competitors. Other items not used during the race should be moved away to keep the transition as clear as possible.

 

Run Regulation
  • The run route is 2.5 KM long.

  • Main Duathlon Run 1 is 2 Laps in a Clockwise Direction.

  • Main Duathlon Run 2 is 1 Lap in an Anti-Clockwise Direction.

  • Youth Duathlon Run 1 is 1 Lap in a Clockwise Direction.

  • Youth Duathlon Run 2 is 1 Lap in an Anti-Clockwise Direction

  • Athletes are NOT allowed to run with a bare torso. Athletes must always cover their upper body & thighs,

  • Bare Chest Running will be penalized.

  • iPods or similar headphone devices are NOT allowed.  

  • Bib Numbers and body markings must always remain visible when running. 

  • There are aid stations on the route. 

  • Avoid littering on the run route. Littering is a rule violation and will be penalized.

 

Bike Regulation
  • Bike Route Lap distance is 5.3 km

  • Main Duathlon Bike Distance is 4 Laps in a Clockwise Direction.

  • Youth Duathlon Bike Distance is 2 Laps in a Clockwise Direction.

  • Drafting is NOT ALLOWED

  • TT Bikes & Road Bikes are allowed

  • MTBs are NOT allowed

  • Littering and disposing of energy gels/food during the bike leg is NOT allowed and will be penalized.

  • Athletes MUST have their bib number on, and the bib number must be on the back while cycling.

  • Athletes must take care of their own safety and the safety of others

  • NO HELMET = NO RIDE = IMMEDIATE DSQ.

  • No outside assistance is allowed in case of a mechanical failure

  • Athletes are responsible for the safety and functionality of their bikes & helmets

 

Hydration
  • Please stay hydrated.

  • There will be water available from aid stations on the run course.

 

Timing System, Timing Chip, and Ankle Strap.
  • We will use electronic timing to give you Run, Bike, and Transition times. 

  • You will be issued a timing chip attached to an ankle strap.

  • Please use the timing chip given to you at registration - any other timing chip will not work.

  • You must attach the Ankle Strap with the timing chip to your LEFT ankle. 

  • Timing points are located at the start, entry/exit to the transition zone, and finish. 

  • We will collect the timing chip from you at the finish line.

  • You must return your chip to the finish, even if you withdraw. Otherwise, we will think you are still out there racing. 

  • If you don’t return your timing chip, you will be liable for a fee of QAR 500 - so please remember to return it. 

 

Registration, Disclaimer Form & Race Pack Collection.
  • Pre-registration is needed to enter this event (Registration Link at the bottom of this page.)

  • Timing Chip collection will start at 09:00 PM on event days. 

  • After signing the Disclaimer Form, You will receive a timing chip with an ankle strap. 

  • Volunteers will help with body number marking.

RACE ENTRY FEE
  • DUATHLON

    • Race 1 (22 March) only - 250 QAR

    • Race 2 (29 March) only - 250 QAR

    • Race 1 & 2 (22 & 29 March) - 400 QAR

  • YOUTH DUATHLON 

    • Race 1 (22 March) only - 150 QAR

    • Race 2 (29 March) only - 150 QAR

    • Race 1 & 2 (22 & 29 March) - 200 QAR

 

Awards & Podium Ceremony
  • Each participant in each event will receive a event exclusive Finisher Medal.

  • No Podium Winner per event for single-event participants (Finishers Medals only).

  • There will be a Series Trophies for participants completing on both events.

  • Podium Winners in each Age Group based on the sum of finish times in both events.

  • First three athletes in all race categories & age groups receive podium trophies.

  • Overall Winners for both Qatari and Non-Qatari Categories in the Main Duathlon Race.

  • Podium Ceremony on March 29 after Duathlon Race 2.

  • Dinner will be served during the medal ceremony.

 

RACE REGISTRATION
  • Online Pre-Registration is required to enter the race.

  • There will be NO on-site registration on race days.

  • REGISTRATION IS NON-REFUNDABLE AND NON-TRANSFERABLE. REGISTER ONLY WHEN YOU ARE SURE TO ATTEND.

  • For us to prepare the Start List in advance, online registration for Race no. 1 is open until Noon on 19th March. Race no. 2 is open until Noon on 25th March.

  • For the Para-Duathlon Relay, please contact Mr. Fahad Al Groon on his WhatsApp.

 

NOTE: To be eligible for podium awards for Age Groups and Overall winners, you must participate in both races.

 

Result
  • After each event, results will be available as soon as possible. 

  • Any queries relating to them should be emailed to qataritriathlonclub@gmail.com by Sunday after each of the events. After this time, all results will be considered final and complete.
